From the volcanic hills of El Salvador to your cup in the UK

Marlon and Rigo’s story is one of friendship, resilience, and a shared dream. Childhood friends from El Salvador, their lives were forever changed by the turmoil of the late 80s Civil War. Rigo found himself starting a new life in London, while Marlon narrowly escaped the unrest that swept through their homeland.

Years later, a reunion in their home country rekindled their bond and sparked a shared passion for Salvadoran coffee and the people who grow it.

“For us, it’s not just the smell of roasting beans—it’s the smell of home. Every cup connects us to our past, empowers our people, and shares the soul of El Salvador with the world.” — Marlon & Rigo, Wellgrown Founders

Inspired by their roots and the desire to make a difference, they set out to bring specialty Salvadoran coffee to the UK and Europe—building bridges between cultures and creating opportunities for the communities behind every cup.

Our Mission: More Than Just Specialty Coffee

WellGrown was never meant to be just another specialty coffee brand.

Our mission is simple and deeply personal:

“To build bridges between El Salvador and the UK through exceptional single origin coffee — while empowering the communities who grow it.”

Every bag of WellGrown carries more than flavour. It carries legacy. It carries opportunity. It carries a commitment to ensure that when we grow, the cooperatives we work with grow too.

Why El Salvador Coffee Is So Special

El Salvador coffee is shaped by altitude, soil, and heritage.

Our beans are grown in Juayúa at around 1,500 MASL — high altitude coffee that matures slowly in rich volcanic soil. That slower growth allows natural sugars to develop fully, creating a cup that is:

  • Bright yet balanced
  • Sweet yet complex
  • Smooth with layered depth

This is single-origin coffee that reflects its land — not blended, not diluted, not anonymous.

And when it is roasted in small batches, those flavours are protected and honoured.

The Cooperatives Behind Every Cup

Coffee is never a solo story.

We work exclusively with coffee cooperatives in El Salvador — communities of growers who often take on multiple roles throughout the year: Farmer. Organiser. Administrator. Custodian of the land.

By working directly with these cooperatives and paying fair prices, we help ensure sustainable livelihoods and long-term access to international markets.

"Exceptional coffee should uplift the people who produce it. This belief shapes every decision we make."

And when it is roasted in small batches, those flavours are protected and honoured.

From Farm to Cup — With Purpose

From careful harvesting in Juayúa
To responsible export
To small-batch roasting
To delivery through our coffee subscription UK service

Every step is intentional.

Our coffee subscription ensures you receive fresh coffee beans at their peak — while maintaining a direct connection to the origin.

We also give back 1% of revenue to support community-led projects in the villages where our beans are grown — from education initiatives to infrastructure improvements.

And because responsibility extends beyond people, our packaging is 100% biodegradable. From seed to cup, we believe every detail matters.

Looking Forward

WellGrown is more than a brand to us. It is a continuation of friendship. Of heritage. Of belief in something better.

It is our way of placing El Salvador coffee on the map for UK coffee lovers — not as a trend, but as a legacy worth celebrating.

And we are only just beginning.

From El Salvador to your cup in the UK — thank you for being part of this journey.
